Why Are We Here?
Good question! There are 1,000 churches you could attend. Truthfully, there are tons of churches in the Lafayette area you could choose. What makes us different? We do not claim to be the best. We are unique in our vision.
We have a specific vision to be a place of repair- a refuge for people that are in need of repair, healing, and who are in process with God.
We want to be a place where people can come and be accepted as they are without the pressure to perform or the rules and legalism that so easily divides.
We believe that God is working all things together for the good of those who love him (Romans 8:28)- and sometimes we just need to be reminded of that. We want to be a place where people who are not big on church love to attend and where those who are sincerely seeking God can find Him, hear from Him, and be healed by Him to go forward on the plan and path He has for us all.
“The Lord will be the place of repair of His people.” Joel 3:16
We are learning what it looks like to be a place of repair, but this poem summarizes it well:
“Place of repair: O blessed place of refuge!
How gladly will I come to meet Him there,
To cease awhile from all the joy of service
To find a deeper joy with Him to share
Place of repair: for tired brain and body!
How much I need that place just out of sight
Where only He can talk, and be beside me,
Until again made strong by His great might.
Place of repair: when trials press upon me
And God permits the unexpected test,
’Tis there I learn some lesson sweet and precious
As simply on His faithfulness I rest.
Place of repair: the place to take my sorrow,
The thing that hurts and would be hard to bear,
But somehow in the secret place I’m finding
That all the hurt is healed since He is there.
Place of repair: to wait for fresh enduement
I silently with Him alone would stay
Until He speaks again, and says, “Go forward
To help some other sheep to find the way.”
Place of repair: O trysting-place most hallowed,
The Lord Himself is just that place to me,
His grace, His strength, His glory and His triumph,
Himself alone my all-sufficiency.” -L.B. Cowman
To be a place of repair for all people.
Our mission is to lead people from a life of the same to a life of change through a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
We are motivated by the message of the cross- that is- that when Jesus Christ died on the cross saves us for eternity and also empowers us to live this life now. As Jesus lives his life through us by faith, we will experience the fullest and most abundant life possible as well as the growth and healing we need to go forward.
We believe the Holy Scriptures are the divinely inspired Word of God and are authoritative in all matters of life.
We believe that there is one God – eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit – Who is the Creator and Sustainer of all things.
We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His atoning death on the cross, His bodily resurrection, and His ascension to the right hand of the Father.
We believe that Jesus Christ is the only Savior of mankind. People are reborn through genuine repentance and personal faith in Him.
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit to convict, teach, guide, and empower Christians to live a godly life.
We believe that the Church is composed of believers in Jesus Christ. He is the Head and the source of its life. The Church, Christ’s body, exists to bring glory to Jesus Christ and to accomplish his purpose.
We believe that the gifts of the Holy Spirit are still active for today.
We believe in the personal future return of Jesus Christ.
We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead and the believer’s everlasting blessedness and joy with the Lord, while the unbeliever will encounter judgment and everlasting conscious punishment.
